Our Story

At Sensory Haven Design, our story began at home.

We are Allison and Tauhid Robinson, a husband-and-wife team and parents of a child with autism. Like many families, we experienced firsthand the challenges of sensory dysregulation—particularly during transitions and in environments that didn’t provide the right type of sensory input.

Frequent meltdowns, overwhelming moments, and the constant need for meaningful sensory engagement became part of our daily life.

Determined to create a calmer, more supportive environment for our son, we began designing our first sensory room.

What started as a personal project quickly became transformational. With a space intentionally designed around his needs, we saw meaningful changes—calmer behavior, a safer environment for stimming and regulation, and greater independence in everyday routines.

But the process revealed something important.

Many available solutions were either overly clinical or lacked the functionality and warmth needed for real-life use. There was a clear gap between therapeutic effectiveness and thoughtful, livable design.

We knew there had to be a better way.

Sensory Haven Design was created to bridge that gap.

As a family-led business, Allison leads the vision and design, while Tauhid plays a key role in concept development and installation coordination—ensuring each project is executed with both intention and quality.

Today, we specialize in custom sensory room design and installation for homes, schools, and therapy providers. Each space is carefully crafted to include calming, movement, and functional zones—designed not just to meet sensory needs, but to integrate seamlessly into everyday life.

We also believe that support shouldn’t stop at the physical environment.

Through our digital wellness platform, we provide guided routines, sensory strategies, and ongoing tools to help families, clinicians, and educators maintain consistency long after the room is complete.

At Sensory Haven Design, everything we create is rooted in lived experience, thoughtful design, and a deep understanding of what families truly need.

Because the right environment doesn’t just support regulation—it creates the foundation for greater independence, confidence, and calm.
